Maps and Data
GeoMuse - MaPSTeDI's GIS mapping application. GeoMuse allows users to view collection data in a spatio-temporal format on accurate maps, allowing quick and easy access to species distribution and biodiversity data. GeoMuse then provides the tools to help users analyze this data.
Data Access - MaPSTeDI provides access to the portions of the collections included in MaPSTeDI's project area (Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming). While most of the specimen records includes geographic coordinates that allow all users to plot the collection locations on maps using GeoMuse, geographic coordinates for sensitive collections such as paleontology and endangered species are not provided.
Data Export - Using GeoMuse, users are able to download subsets of information contained on MaPSTeDI in text, shapefile, Excel spreadsheet, and image formats for analysis in GIS applications such as ArcView.
Taxonomic Names Databases - Collections included in MaPSTeDI will be linked to taxonomic names databases developed by MaPSTeDI from standard taxonomic sources. These names databases will include common synonyms and allow MaPSTeDI to link together collections with different taxonomic schemes. As of this time, these taxonomic databases are still under development.
Metadata - MaPSTeDI will provide a complete list of metadata. Metadata standards are still under development.
